Hi, I am looking for a program to down laod music on my computer. I was wondering what program works best with jaws 8.0 professional? Thank you.

I use both BearShare Lite and SoulSeek, and they seem to work okay. SoulSeek takes a little figuring out, but once you get the hang of it, it's all good.

O I just use Itunes. Though it isn't very JAWS-friendly, it's a breeze once you get to know it better. I started using Itunes when I got my first-generation Ipod Nano last year and it took me about five minutes to get to grips with it.

I use several programs, win mx, bear share light, dc++, gnucleus, soulseek, and utorrent for getting torrents. If you'd like help with any of those, contact me off-site!

Oh I've also got an ftp server for anyone interested, just add me to msn and I'll get you set up once I'm back in Vancouver. I only ask that anyone who gets an acount that ither you upload something, and or you have a server to share. rock on!

You use Winmx? It stopped working a while back and ...we all just quit using it, because it wasn't working for any of our friends either.
and bearShare is possibly the easiest client to use I've ever come across, but it gave my computer all this crap--spyware and useless adds and such. Could have been something I did wrong, though. Did anyone else have that problem?

You can get win mx from www.winmxgroup.com, and it does in deed work, it's been working for two years since it's restart, and as for bear share, you need to get bear share lite from www.jfwlite.com, and it's clean.

Also if you wanna try torrents, utorrent is a very nice torrent client, and you'll wanna download the installer, not the stand-alone version. Also www.btjunkie is but one of many torrent sites that work nicely.

Somehow, my bearshare lite doesn't work for me anymore. It wouldn't let me do anything till I updated it and then after I did, the program asked for my email address and a user name and password which I thought was weird so I just stopped using it. Did anyone get this problem? lol So I just use torrents now. It sucks cause sometimes, I like to look for instrumentals so I can make my own backup vocals to it and without bearshare lite, I can't download them now. *sad face*

Actually bear share light still works for me, just uncheck the box that says to check for newer versions, just get bear share light and install it again, and it will work, just exit the program and restart it again, and you're good to go.

Torrents (and the right sites) are pretty much all you need nowadays.

Speaking of which, I have quite a few invites to oink and indietorrents for anyone with torrent expertise (don't feel like walking anyone through port-forwarding and whatnot). The one drawback to oink is that it gives you one of those annoying verification codes whenever you want to login. But other than that, it's easily the best music torrent site out there.

Wow; cool. Thanks for bringing up WinMX again. I just downloaded it again day before yesterday, and it's working great! *smile* I already found 2 songs I didn't think I would and am very happy about that! To Post 1, I use Jaws 7, and this program is very accessible without scripts so I'm guessing it will work fine with JAWS 8. You'd mainly be using the JAWS cursor except for when you click on the "Search" or "Open New Search" button, and the windows are easy to navigate and get used to. So I'd personally recommend that one. Just my opinion.

That's why you scan everything after downloading, and update your virus definitions offen.

I use bear share pro... well (you can obtain it from bearshare itself) and the good oldversion.com is a good site to get it as well as jfwlite.com as mentioned before.I use emule 0.48 from the emule-project.net site. if you are getting bearshare from the oldversion.com web site then get the 5.2.1 or the one before 6.0. Unfortunately 6.0 changes the network so that you will have to authenticate using some sort of annoying random junk. Gnutella is a nice network although emule is a big part of it. Filesharing in emule works very differently from bearshare. Port forwarding... there are good tutorials out there, use your favorite search engine and real on them. Other filesharing software I have used really does not work with jaws. I ahve actually have reports that jaws 8 and the bearshare lists are no longer readable. Anyway, that is my bit on this post.

Actually when I used to use BearShare light, I had this problem like that I didn't know the name of the files unless I started downloading them. So I had stopped using BearShare but SoulSeek works quite fine, though, being in cue is a bit annoying, but getting user info and unless seing he or she has 100 cues, that is fine.
